The ACF Woodcock Family Education Scholarship Program annually awards two to three $10,000 scholarships.

The Woodcocks believed the future of mathematics and science depends on the quality of education. The ACF Woodcock Family Education Scholarship program aims to promote leadership in these fields by providing financial assistance for future STEM leaders. Two to three scholarships of $10,000 each are given out annually through the ACF Woodcock Family Education Scholarship Program.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this scholarship and have a chance of winning it, you will need to satisfy certain eligibility criteria. These criteria state that the applicant must be of the following:

  • A high school senior who is about to graduate from high school in the metropolitan Albuquerque area, including Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia, and Torrance Counties.
  • A student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and has an impressive credentials in mathematics and/or the sciences,
  • A student who has excelled academically and has a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.8, as well as a minimum ACT composite score of 30 OR a minimum Math SAT score of 680

You shouldn’t fill out the sections of the application that are relevant to your financial situation because this is a merit-based award.

You are required to submit your transcript and/or résumé, as well as a recommendation from a teacher of mathematics or science, and one or more references from additional teachers, internship or work programs, or community service.

You will also need to write a scholarship essay that should be between one and two pages long and should include information about who you are, as well as what your goals and aspirations are for the rest of your life. Your intentions and ambitions for the future, as described in the essay, must be connected in some way to the study of mathematics or science. It is essential to have genuine originality, creativity, and honesty.

Who is the Woodcock Family?

C.E. (Woody) Woodcock, a successful businessman in Albuquerque, and Dixie Woodcock, his wife, came up with the idea for the ACF Woodcock Family Education Scholarship Program in 1993. The purpose of the program is to provide financial assistance to students who show extraordinary potential in the areas of science and mathematics.
