Oberkotter Family Foundation Scholarship

The work of the Oberkotter Foundation has always been driven by the Trustees’ strong conviction that all deaf and hard-of-hearing children should have the opportunity to realize their full potential. 

The Oberkotter Foundation is committed to assisting families who have chosen listening and spoken language for their children, as well as providing chances for children to learn listening and spoken language to develop their social, emotional, linguistic, literacy, and academic skills.

Oberkotter Family Foundation Scholarship

Oberkotter Foundation’s mission is “Helping families ensure their children who are deaf or hard of hearing have opportunities to reach their full potential through listening and spoken language.” 

The Oberkotter Foundation focuses on assisting caring adults in providing deaf or hard-of-hearing infants and toddlers with the same listening, spoken language, and literacy chances as their hearing classmates. 

They do so by financing programs and projects that expand access to education, resources, hearing technology, coordinated services and raise public awareness. All of their operations and investments are coordinated to ensure that their work is carried out efficiently and successfully.

This scholarship is neither primarily based on financial need nor academic achievement. This article will cover the requirements later.

What Does this Scholarship Provide?

Each scholarship grant carries a $3,500 value. Based on the quality of the applications, the Foundation expects to grant scholarships to one or more students from eligible high schools. 

This is typically awarded to one or more students per year. But it is a select number.

Applicants who are given scholarships may seek financial funding each year they are enrolled in a postsecondary institution, including a four-year college or university, graduate school, or professional school.

What are the Eligibility Factors?

First off, each applicant must be on track to graduate from high school and enroll in a postsecondary institution the following fall. 

Second, they must provide a transcript or other official high school document in their application. 

Third, high school seniors who are enrolled full-time and in good academic standing from specific schools in New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont can apply. You can see the list in the chart below.

Next, applicants must demonstrate at least two of the following:

• Strong moral and ethical character;
• Service to school, community, and/or family;
• Part-time work;
• Extra-curricular activities; and/or
• Sports participation.

When is the Oberkotter Family Foundation Scholarship Application Due?

The Foundation shall accept applications no later than February 1, 2023.

Emailed applications not in The Robert and Joyce Oberkotter Family Foundation Scholarship‘s inbox by 11:59 p.m. on February 1, 2023, and mailed applications received after February 1, 2023, will not be viewed, regardless of when the applicants emailed or mailed their applications.
