The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) offers the Albert Yanni Scholarship to help students pursue advanced education opportunities.

Albert Yanni Scholarship

The Albert Yanni Scholarship enables high-achieving students in career and technical education (CTE) to pursue further study and/or training linked to their career goals.

Each student selected by a committee of West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) personnel will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Before awards are distributed, successful applicants must provide evidence that they continue to meet eligibility requirements.

Minimum Requirements For High School Candidates:

  • Each candidate must be a secondary student enrolled in a public school in West Virginia who will have completed all graduation requirements by the end of the current academic year.
  • Each applicant must have a cumulative (9-12) attendance rate of 85 percent and a cumulative (9-12) grade point average of at least 3.0.
  • No applicant in years 9 through 12 may have a final semester grade below a C.
  • In line with WVBE Policy 2520.13, each applicant must have completed or be on track to complete at least four required courses for a state-approved CTE program of study.
  • Each applicant must intend to pursue post-secondary education in a career field connected to his or her secondary program of study.
  • Each applicant must be registered or accepted into a technical certificate or degree program at a recognized post-secondary institution or technical center.

Minimum Requirements For Homeschooler Applicants:

  • Each applicant must have completed a minimum of four units in a single, approved career technical study program.
  • Each applicant must intend to pursue post-secondary education in a career field connected to his or her secondary program of study.
  • Each applicant must be registered or accepted into a technical certificate or degree program at an accredited postsecondary institution or technical center.
  • Each applicant must have passed the TASC with a score of at least 550 and produce a copy of their score.

The Albert Yanni Scholarship application deadline is March 1, 2023.
