Dream Iowa Scholarship

The DREAM Iowa Scholarship was established in 2018 and is awarded by DREAM Iowa Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization. The scholarship is intended “to provide monetary support for immigrant students pursuing higher education” Winners will receive $3,500 in reward.

Eight Iowa community schools have partnered with DREAM Iowa to provide scholarship matching for DREAM Iowa scholarship recipients. DREAM Iowa Inc. is happy to award the DREAM Iowa Scholarship, which was founded in 2018. (501c3). 

Who is Eligible?

The basic qualifications for the scholarship are that the applicant should be a senior in high school or enrolled in college and “demonstrate the spirit to overcome adversity and commitment to our immigrant community.” 

In addition, candidates are required to fulfill the following:

  • Be an Undocumented or DACA-eligible student residing in Iowa.
  • Have graduated from a high school in Iowa with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 or have obtained an HSED (formerly GED)
  • To be eligible to enroll for consecutive years as a current NIACC student, you must meet the following requirements:
    • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
    • Continue to be enrolled at NIACC.
    • Maintained prompt payment on all college accounts and fees.
  • Full-time student (Fall/Spring) in a diploma or degree program at North Iowa Area Community College.

What is Required for Your Application?

Included in the required submissions are the following:

  • Submit an application for the Dream Scholar Award before August 1.
  • Complete the application for the NIACC Foundation Scholarship (we must have proof that you have completed this online application as well).
  • Include a copy of your recent high school transcript or HSED (previously GED) certificate.
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher, community member, or non-relative that addresses your qualifications and character.
  • Submit two solutions to the essay questions on the application form, which can be downloaded.

If selected as a finalist for the Dream Scholar Award, the candidate will be asked to interview with a team of NIACC staff during the second week of August.
